Project: Leadership Training and Community Meetings

EBALDC case pic.jpg

In partnership with the East Oakland Collective, CIC developed and delivered training for a dozen community leaders from East Oakland. The goal was to support the leaders in designing and facilitating a series of community meetings to make meaning of data gathered by EBALDC in their neighborhood. The leaders also conducted outreach, bringing together dozens of their neighbors to identify priorities based on the research. Read a more detailed case study here.

Accomplishments

  • Trained ten community leaders in outreach, community organizing, and meeting design

  • Supported design, facilitation, and outreach for trilingual community-led meetings

  • Helped EBALDC identify community priorities for future partnerships based on data analysis and community conversation

I liked that it was resident-led and I liked that the folks from partner organizations seemed very encouraging to the residents. I saw that happening deliberately and it was really nice.

It was really positive that we were able to do multiple languages and it felt organized – like we were valuing people’s time. And we had a real range of people. There was diversity in different ways.

I liked the participation - the community coming in and giving their output on every topic. They were really concerned about what is going on and what can be done in their community.
